I Can't Stand You
I can't stand you....
you've got it the best but all you do is complain,
like: "Pour me another glass of champagne I got to fight this pain
and numb it like I'm taking novacaine."
Shut up man!
You don't know pain..
you're one of those kids who can run to daddy and run to mommy.
That name...'daddy' it makes me so sick to hear...and yet it's so funny!
I can't stand you.
Never once have you felt worthless,
never once have you felt brokeness,
never once have you felt like the world would be better without you.
You can run to daddy, and he's there.
you can talk to mommy and she cares.
Man this ain't fair!
Yeah, I can't stand you!
and I'll puff up my chest and I'll say it again!
my mother tried to kill me,
how dare your's try to make you get up and get a job.
How dare your daddy go out of town for business,
but mine's been gone to the store for almost twenty years!
I.CAN'T.STAND.YOU!
But who is 'You'?
I look into the mirror and it couldn't be clearer that the 'you' I'm referring to
is the me I wanted to be. I can't believe it took me so long to see that my scars
make up the best parts of me,
and to you I say this:
"Wear your scars proudly,
let your pain scream loudly,
and let everyone priviledged hear that you are not the same.
Let them know you are stronger than they,
because in the end you're glad you refused that novacaine."
