Do I have to be filthy rich/to get my teeth fixed?/Get contacts for the eyes so I can see/If I dropped some weight/would you like me?/Would you be happy?/Of little old me/I wrote this to say I can’t make you laugh and smile/Mine’s not seen in a while/I can love you but I can’t make you love me back/So what if you’re black/Baby, I’m dark, too/People hate you?/Yeah, me, too/Jesus, too/Everyone’s been hated on at least once in their life/Don’t pick up a gun or a knife/Don’t shut down/Don’t lump all of us in the same boat/We individuals/Just like you/Don’t treat us all the same/Get to know the person behind the name/
