I Choose You

Smack, I hit a wall

That is what I believed at first

As the veins in my blood screamed out in pain

As my body hung in the air trying to breathe

The hands of my family

Smoothed and covered my screams

As I laid in my bed thinking

“O Lord, why me?”

The little light that shines through spoke to me

I choose you because you’re strong like steel

You’re unbreakable like metal

Your smile can heal a million or more

And your faith is stronger than others

So you were my best choice

You are the reason why people look up

You are the reason for joy

And you a the reason why people have hope

I choose you because you believe in me

You’re surrounded by love and you give love even when you don't mean to

You are the face of life

And you are hope

That is why I choose you

You praised me on your best days

You praised me on your good days

You praised me on your bad days

And you even praised me on your worst days

That is why I choose you

So you can testify to all the great things I have done for you.

Even when your sickness told you not to

One day, you will see that your sickness was blessing

It was not something to keep you from living or having fun

But it was for you because you have strength, courage, faith, and hope.
