I Cried Wolf Twice
Perhaps it is all in my head
But in that case, I do dread
It may just be too hot outside
The Sun blares upon the hillside
I made sure my flock is feed
Now I may go back to my bed
But I hear a howl
I pray that it just be an owl
“Wolf, wolf” I cry
I wish not to die
I did hear a snarl and growl
But my friends gave me a scowl
I swear to all what I saw
Its thick and long jaw
Its vile black fur
But its seem now like a blur
No, the image maybe raw
But I recall a hideous claw
They left me with a whack
And then it came back
“Wolf, wolf” I screamed
Perhaps it was something I dreamed
They left me to become a snack
To hang off the rack
Perhaps they were right
My head felt so light
I cried wolf twice
With nothing but sheep and field mice
When the wolf came in sight
I gave him no fight
I knew it was not real
As my flock became a meal
Devoured one by one
And came to me when done
I was not sure how to feel
And I could do was squeal
