I cry
I cry
Not because of the sadness I burden from my inabilities
Not because of unequal treatment
Not because the white man don’t see me as an equal
Not because I’ve been beaten physically and mentally
Not because of the none justification of my freedom
I cry for mercy, I cry for strength
I cry a full river for my brothers and sisters to soak their wounds in
I cry for the anger held upon me
I cry for my ancestors
I cry for God and what he has done for me
Oh I cry
I cry for freedom
I cry that my mind is as free as the shackles on my feet
I cry for peace within my heart
I cry that I’m worthy of this country not meant for me
Oh I cry
