I Cry

I cry for those that are left behind

How can we be so blind?

We strip them bare

We poison their air

We kill and slaughter

Spill oil in their water

How can we be so self absorbed?

We continue to hoard until there is no more

The polar bear is left without a home

The buffalo can no longer roam

All life is beautiful

How can we be so cruel?

If we look closely

We no longer have to be lonely

We can take the hands of our sisters and brothers

And treat the earth as we'd treat our mother

How can we learn to love?

How can we learn to be kind?

Because I weep for the creatures that we have left behind
