I Didn't Ask For This

I didn’t ask for your approval.

I didn’t ask for you to be my mirror on the wall.

I didn’t ask for your comments as I crossed the street.

I didn’t ask for your filthy cat call.

I didn’t ask for you to blow up my phone.

I didn’t ask for you to poison my drink.

I didn’t ask for you to assault me,

I didn’t ask for my eyes to cry until they were puffy and pink.

I didn’t ask for you to corner me at the party.

I didn’t ask for you to pull up my dress.

I didn’t ask for you to hiss in my ear,

I didn’t ask for you to say that if I stopped fighting it would hurt less.

I didn’t ask for the police to question my credibility.

I didn’t ask for everyone to stare.

I didn’t ask for the jury to want to hear me testify.

I didn’t ask for my mind to stop giving a care.

I didn’t ask for this dark cloud to follow me.

I didn’t ask for this shame

I didn’t ask for their opinion.

I didn’t ask for this societal blame.

I didn’t ask for this

I didn’t ask for this

I didn’t ask for this
