I Didn't Change...I Just Grew Up

I came into this world small & frail, giving my mother such joy

I depended on her to clean me...protect me...love me...

Then one day I was separated for the first time from my mom

Sent into pre-school to begin to learn & socialize

From there it was on to elementary school

As my mom pushed me to be independent, she was no longer there to hold my hand

This was the first step on the stairway to becoming my own person

Middle school rushed into my life

Suddenly I needed to figure out who I was

As the leaves began to fall high school arrived

Reality started to set in, in four years I would be on my own

The stress of SATs, ACTs & seminars for my future began to surface

Now I'm entering my senior year, realizing my childhood is nearing an end

The easy stress free days are over

Now I'm making plans for college, the cost, my living situaion & so much more

But I didn't change...I just grew up
