I Didn't Know
I didn't know what love was but when I saw you I got a clue.
Love was seeing you smile,
It was seeing your eyes light up as you told a joke.
Love was hearing you laugh about something stupid.
And love was just being near you.
I didn't know what love was but I could take a guess.
Love was knowing when you were sad.
It was talking all night and sitting in silence.
Love was knowing everything about you.
And love was forgetting all your flaws.
I didn't know what love was but I knew what followed.
What followed was heartbreak.
It was the pain of you holding her hand.
It was watching you hug her and not me.
What followed was regret.
I didn't know what love was but now I finally do.
Love is me being with you.
