I didn't know

I didn’t wake up one morning and consciously think I’m going to be a poet. I’m going to grab a pen and pad and be the greatest poet that ever lived. It just miraculously happened. I don’t remember what my first poem was, I don’t remember why I wrote it, but I do remember that I was 12 when I first started writing.  It started out all fun and games, till I really started trying.  At first I rhymed, you know. Using simple rhyme schemes, It wasn’t until 6th grade in middle school that I decided subconsciously to become a poet. How crazy is that! I became a poet, and I didn’t even know it, till I had work to show for it. One day I decided to show my friends my poetry and they were like Brii you’re a poet. And at that moment a flame was ignited in me. It made me realize, that if you take out the ry of poetry you are left with poet, and at that very moment I realized that I was a poet. For how can you write poetry without first being a poet?
