When I saw you
I didn't know who you could be
When I met you
I didn't know who you would be
When I spoke to you
I didn't know who you were
When you heard me
I didn't know you were listening
When you made me laugh
I didn't know I was gaining my best friend
When you told me I was beautiful
I didn't know I'd forever cling to those words
When I asked you questions
I didn't know you'd be brutally honest with me
When conversations consumed us
I didn't know you'd find the depths of my soul
When we were separate
I didn't know it'd hurt so much
When I tried to help you
I didn't know it'd hurt you
When I made mistakes
I didn't know you'd stay
When you talked about dying
I didn't know I'd be so helpless
When you told me I fucked up your life
I didn't know how our friendship would continue
When I asked for you
I didn't know you'd choose other girls before me
When I wanted anything but to lose you
I didn't know that I feared I'd never find anyone else
When I told you the whole truth
I didn't know you'd reserve yourself from me
When I felt the tug to say goodbye
I didn't know you'd willingly agree
When we said farewell
I didn't know you'd say that I loved you more than you loved me
And now that you're gone
It feels like hell
Because I gave you everything
Because I love you
Because I will never stop loving you
But maybe I love you more than I should
