I Didn't Know Much

I saw it all

I heard it all

the hole in the wall

the screams

the broken computer

the arguments

the cheating

because I love you he said

over and over

but what did he really mean?

because I love you this will all blow over

because I love you you’ll take me back

because I love you you’ll forgive me

because I love you won’t leave me

because you love me

because you need me.

And the cycle ran over and over again

I didn’t know much then but I knew no one should be treated that way.

because I love you he manipulated

“because I love you” isn’t an excuse

it isn’t an ultimatum

it isn’t a threat

or at least it shouldn’t be.

because i love you i would never hurt you

I care because i love you

I protect you because I love you

I respect you because i love you

I didn’t know much but I know I want to be treated

love is wanting another person to be happy even if its not with you

I would let you go… because I love you.
