I Diverged
"Two roads diverged in a wood,
And I, I took the one less traveled by,
And that hasmade all the difference."
-Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a wood,
But why did I take the one less traveled by?
Everyone walked to the right
While I trudged on to the left,
Through the heart of the forest
On an unmarked and overgrown path.
A path that has not been walked in some time.
It is this path I took by myself,
With no one to pull me up from the mud
Or lean on as the briars and tics clung
To the soaked hems of my tattered dress.
Yes, I took the road less traveled by.
A simple choice and one of my own accord.
For as stubborn as I can be,
I never thought once to follow the others
Down the sunny and well-worn path,
Filled with singing birds and song.
When voice and hand beckoned to follow,
I laughed and follwed the heart instead.
For I know where your tempting leads,
And trust me when I say
It may not be greener on the other side.
Yes I took the road less traveled by,
And that will make all the difference.
