I Don't Know

I don't know

I don't know

I don't know

The words are my mantra in a flurry of questions

I don't know

I don't know

Why are you so surprised?

You've watched me slowly crumble

Becoming the husk I am now

Disappointment gleams in your eyes

Your golden child

Shattered

No longer perfect

No longer the heir apparent

I'm so sick

But not in body

My soul aches instead

Wretched agony, slowly built up

Until the dam shattered

Just like me
