I Don't Know Me Anymore

Can you hear the silence of my voice?

Can you see the unwritten words upon my tongue?

Can you taste, smell, even touch the nothingness

That I’m slowly fading into?

I can hear the sadness slowly breaking me,

Slowly dissolving who I used to be.

The echoing void within my heart

Is growing bit by bit,

Swallowing up what’s left of me.

I can barely feel anything anymore.

All you’ve left me is the pain;

I can only feel the empty aching of

This hollow heart inside me.

Did you love me?

Why did you hurt me

Over and over with your

Betrayal disguised as love?

You waited barely a year before

Stabbing me in the chest again.

This time, what little is left of flesh

Is being choked out by scar tissue.

You sowed only sorrow and pain within my heart.

I tried to give you back love and healing;

But the sorrow and pain within you

Are full-grown, immune to my love.

You allowed those weeds to take root,

To grow and flourish and flower.

I’m trying to fight against my own weeds.

I’m know that I’m losing.

I’m scared.

I don’t want to be you.
