I Don't Know What To Say
"I don't know what to say" is a lie on the breath
There's always things to say.
Humans are meant to speak, from their first cry right at birth.
We are entitled to expression, it's a gift founded in our existence.
Speaking can be rushed, even with "um"s and "uh"s.
We have to make words spill out quickly to look smart and quck witted.
What ever happend to mulling over words carefully, silently sucking on their appeal.
Are they sweet? Are they gooey? Do they make my listener taste what I want to feed them?
This is why poetry is an art, a dying one at that.
I write it to make people taste.
I write it because "I don't know what to say".
