I don't need you

I don’t need you
I don’t
It took me 8 long months
But it’s true
I don’t need your smile or your laugh
I don’t need your hand tangled in mine
I don’t need your lips pressed softly against mine in the glow of a hallway light
I don’t
But I want it
I want to laugh a real laugh
To speak with real words
To feel with real feelings
But mostly to love with real love
But I don’t need you
I can learn to feel real on my own
And I will
