I don't write poems

I don't write poems

You could most likely, most certainly, already tell that from the title

I'm not a poet, nor a writer, and if asked to defend Shakespeare, I wouldn't be much of a fighter

Yet here you are, reading this poem, reading the pixels that form words; that form thoughts; that form feeling and emotion

So how does this poem exist, then, if I don't write poems?

I read a poem one day

A poem that spoke, a poem that poked at me in a way that no other poem dared spoke or poked

A poem that bloomed colors of red, orange... yellow, green.... blue, purple...

A poem that, unlike me on that day, did not squirrel away and did not sway to say

I'M GAY

And suddenly, I understood. What poetry meant.

Poetry isn't ostentatious observations that elegantly and eloquently convey a elevated designation of education

Poetry is words. Thoughts. Feeling and emotion.

Two words I would not dare say to the world, yet I could scream them to the world

And no one would know, because I wrote them on paper.

But I don't write poems.

In fact, you are not reading a poem, but a snapshot of myself at this current time:

9:09 on the 18th of June. As a waxing gibbous whines, not yet a full moon,

The snapshots captures the words, thoughts, feeling and emotion that I feel at this very moment, usually hidden to all, are here, right here on this snapshot.

Although, this shot did not happen in a snap,

But was developed over 16 laps around the sun that are too difficult to recap

So I don't write poems

I'm not a poet, nor a writer, and for writing? Not much of a fighter.

But I am a photographer.

And this is my snapshot.
