I don’t regret it
I met you in the summer, almost four years ago.
Your curly black hair, bright hazel eyes made my smile grow.
You pulled me up onto your dirt bike, sparkling in the sun,
I held on for dear life, praying you weren’t like the last one.
You instantly became my best friend, I told you everything I knew.
The school years went by, and my love for you just grew.
I was always myself with you, I never had to pretend.
Until the day jealousy brought our friendship to an end.
My friends tried to comfort me, telling me it was for the best.
But every time I heard your name, it brought a heartache to my chest.
I couldn’t delete your pictures, even though they made me miss you more.
Forcing myself to stop thinking about you, started to feel like a chore.
People will ask me “Do you regret dating him, for all that time?”
If only they knew I dream about you still being mine.
You were the best thing about high school, I don’t regret it at all.
And because I still love you, I will remember it all.
