I Dream of Dreaming

To know what once was real is fake,

To know all I know is just thought

Is like knowing an ocean is merely a lake

Or that all the truths are not.

My mind will wander in the night,

And creativity will flow

Beyond my room and out of sight

Into the midnight glow.

I want this fantasy to stay,

Never should it leave.

All is perfect when I lay

And simply just believe.

But what if fake is really true

And thought is truly fact?

Just take a look from my point of view,

You won’t want to turn back.

What if I really saved the day?

What if Prince Charming came?

Is world peace a dream away?

And happiness just the same?

Our dreams become reality,

Our problems are all gone.

Our ideas will defy gravity

And it all begins with one.

One soul to dream a future world

One mind to walk in wonder.

One heart to bend from straight to curled

And rid the world of thunder

Or maybe dreaming is for sleep.

Perhaps it’s all in fun.

But in my soul, that hope I keep

A better day than this one.
