I Dream The Same Dream

Langston Hughes said
"America never was America to me."
Yet he, like me,
Believed in a future America.

An America where
the descendants of slaves,
the children of immigrants,
the sons and the daughters of the rich and the poor,
can strive for that same basic dream.

The America today is not a perfect America.
But I too, swear this oath—
    "America will be!"
