I Feel
I feel like a small fish in the vast ocean
Not in the big fish, little pond notion
I feel exposed with little refuge
My body is too small and the waves are too huge
I feel like I’m at the bottom of the food-chain
Like that’s the only value I can gain
I feel like you look like bioluminescence
You light up the depths with purely your essence
I feel attracted to your beautiful glow
So I rush to find you deep down below
I feel colder as I leave my habitat for you
The water turns darker away from the light, no longer blue
I feel the need to see you through the light you emit
I’m more vulnerable than I care to admit
I feel no warmth from your self-sufficient light
I’m starting to wonder if this decision is right
I feel you lurk closer in the blinding dark
Your glow was too graceful to ever be a shark
I feel my eyes strain as you reveal yourself
You were an angler fish and I had doomed myself
I feel the freezing water get redder and warmer
Your teeth pierce through my skin and weak armor
I feel defenseless to your obvious trap
My future and life you eagerly kidnap
I feel numb as I surrender myself to you
Your beauty was a trick through and through
I feel a part of myself merge into your body
The cycle of energy is ever so gaudy
I feel the need to close my eyes, but when I do
They open again as part of you
I feel hideous and evil with no escape
You become my new wretched landscape
I feel the abused become the abuser
I struggle to find who is the true loser
