i follow
sleep whispers, wordlessly, "come this way"
so i follow down cool corridors and step on up for the ride
and i attempt to memorize each symbol,
each vision that is passed along the way
i put an owl in my pocket , neatly fold the moon
and then pin it to my gown
faces greet me that i recognize immediately
but fade as i am pulled along,
fingers grazing the moon for good luck
i glance behind and distraction finds me so easily
that all i want
is to float here and absorb
all of the reckless thoughts that created this world
a dream of uncertain, but familiar origin
each image is stitched in place in a way,
that feels so right in sleep
expectation holds no dominion here
possibility is presumed to be out of reach
i lay my worries down to count some sheep
i close my eyes and go to sleep
it whispers to me
and i follow
