I Forgot
The pain grew old,
So my feelings I sold.
My heart turned cold,
Or so I am told.
That’s fine.
I forgot.
Then, I felt like butter.
My heart began to flutter
As my voice started to stutter.
I fell in another emotional gutter.
That’s fine.
I forgot.
Tears threatened to fall,
No longer contained by my mental wall.
Crumbled to a crawl, my ego failed to hold me tall.
An internal screech, no one answered my call.
That’s fine.
I forgot.
Voices mislead,
Things said,
Actions dread,
Dirty head.
This is me ‘til I’m dead.
I remember.
Without vengeance, wear the blame.
Without regret, shed the shame.
Without hesitation, take the fame.
Without aim, challenge the game.
An untameable force,
I remember.
Spiteful remarks to ignore,
Agony was felt no more.
Emotions fled my core
As I was the only one to adore.
Have I been here before?
I forget.
