I Found a Friend

I misperceived you to be someone you are not;

Someone who I wouldn’t want anything to do with.

But in your eyes I found comfort,

Only to explore further the depths of your heart.

I seek ways of expanding your mind,

Working on it, looking for clues for the long haul.

I question you sometimes-

How can you be so nice and clear eyed?

How can you love so hard, after being let down?

I find different answers to these questions,

Each time we meet.

I couldn’t ask for a better friend,

As I know you make my life more complete.
