I found you
I found you first on a bookshelf
By the name of Sues and Silverstein
You filled my belly with laughter
I found you in class
Filled with similes and metaphors
Rhymes and onomatopoeia
Shaky voices and new perspectives
I found you in my downfall
I used you to scream from the rooftops
Silently into my notebook
I used you with hopes that someone would hear me
I found you at my worst
When the blood dripped from my veins
When my bones peeked through my skin
You caught all my tears
You gave me a friend
You kept all my secrets
I found you at midnight
When life seemed all too much
Your words were all I could cling too
I found you in recovery
You brought a community to my fingertips
A world of people who understood
You brought light to my darkness
I found you
I found you when I needed you most
When the sun began to shine
When the flowers began to bloom
You brought me to this day
I still have you on my bookshelf
You make me laugh and sometimes cry
You’ve brought me so much hope and strength
I’m so glad I found you
