I get it now

Everything people said.
Everything they did.
All of it was true in some way.
“Until it happens to you you won't know how I feel.”
I get it now
Why they say “you have a heavy heart”
Now that it's happened to me
It feels like I'm falling and will never get up.
They crack jokes to make fun of things they don't understand.
They told me my feelings matter but ultimately were wrong.
All of it was true.
Now it's happened to me but I don't know what to do.
I try to write my feelings but it gets me nowhere.
I try to tell you my feelings but I am here,
And you are there.
I try to wait for your feelings to reach me,
But I can't tell if they exist anymore.
I wish you felt the same, but the one thing I know for sure
Is that you will never feel the same.
