I give you this star

Another poem I wrote, just the other day actually. it's written in a haiku sort of format, but a lot of them strung together. I don't actually know how to recite haiku, like a formal way of doing it, so I read it in a way that felt like speaking. For the 'Film your voice' scholarship. words: I give you this star. I pulled it out of the sky just for you to hold. See how it's shining? See the way it sparkles too? Do you see these things? I saw it shining. I saw it flying overhead, and just thought of you. I thought you'd like it that you would know that i care. Because it shines so. I give you this star, With all my hope and my dreams Take care of it please. It is up to you To keep it bright and shining, It depends on you. Just as I depend, on you sometimes, you who care. This is my thank you. Hold it gently please, And when you do, think of me. I thought of you.

I think it's so interesting how you took the haiku format but turned it into a longer story by writing many together! Have you ever written a cinquain poem? Head on over to "Writing Tips" under the "Resources" section to check out how!
