I had a best friend.
I had a best friend.
I had a best friend who meant everything to me.
He always listened and always saw every need.
He was loving and kind and was a friend to all,
He had only good intentions, but they caused Him to fall.
One day He grew wise and He began to talk,
But not just that He applied it to His walk.
His words were all true and they were all meant for good,
But some didn't like it and got mad and misunderstood.
They began to hate and to plot and to scheme,
They called Him crazy and mad and did not believe.
They thought He was a problem only violence could end,
So they did it, they attacked and they killed my best friend.
I was grieved and mourned when I heard the news,
Even they felt bad once they had all gotten a clue.
But it was too late the deed was done,
It appeared that jealousy and anger had won.
But my friend was bigger and better than that,
So even though He isn't here I don't have to be sad.
Because I know that He waits for me at the end of this life,
My best friend my savior my Jesus Christ.
