I Had it All Wrong

Friday, October 28th 2011, was the day you and I first met

I had no idea of what I was going to wear yet.

Just the thought of meeting you gave me the butterflies

One could see it in my eyes.

I met you through a friend of a friend

Had no sense of how much time there was to spend.

The four of us went to the grocery store

As I followed behind, it was nice of you to hold the door.

Dinner was prepared at the apartment

The food released a delicious scent.

It was then time for the MLB World Series Game Seven

Which could not be ignored by the men.

You and Jeff were for the St. Louis Cardinals

While Melissa and I were for the Texas Rangers.

Unfortunately the Cardinals won six to two

Melissa and I knew from the start we were screwed.

Even after apologizing I still feel horrible and am embarrassed

I should have never been that blasted.

But you took care of me and I do not know why

I knew that was an automatic bye.

You said you did not mind and things happen

I thought to myself, can you please say that again?

I believed I ruined my chance getting close to you

Somehow you could see through.

From the moment I met you

You were stunned by my eyes that are naturally pure blue.

The way you looked and smiled at me

I knew there was something else you could see.

It felt like we were a couple as in boyfriend and girlfriend

You were the initial one that commended.

Spending the weekend with you was great

I had no idea it would deflate.

As Monday came along

You were gone.

It felt like my world turned dark

Then I was attacked by a shark.

My feelings and heart were torn apart

I could not feel my heart.

Not knowing until later that you had a girlfriend

I wish you just told me instead you chose to de-friend.
