I had my doubts.

I lay here and think that you love me, that you'll hold me forever I'm blind. Like flipping on the bedroom light in the morning after a long night out. I had my doubts. If you loved me, you would listen to me. You ask me how my day was, and then tune out. I had my doubts. If you loved me, you would be slow to anger and not lash out. I had my doubts. If you loved me, I would not walk on eggshells and live through hell, hoping you won't freak out. I had my doubts. I loved you through it all, day in and day out. I had my doubts. If you loved me, you wouldn't have let me walk out. It was hard to think about. I was blind by my love for you even if I had my doubts. Fast forward. I'm in a relationship so passionate you could write a book about. I have no doubts. He listens and he doesn't shout. He's slow to anger and he doesn't lash out. He's all I can think about. I don't walk on eggshells or live through hell day in and day out. You ruined me, that I don't doubt. He is slowly putting me back together with every kind gesture, and he is showing me what a relationship is about. I have no doubts.
