I Hate My Birthday
They say "Hey, when's your birthday?"
I say "Oh, you know. . ." mumble mumble.
"What was that?" they ask.
"Valentine's Day," I grumble.
"Oh!" they're excited.
"I hate it!" I shout.
I hate my birthday!
I hate how my family would rather spend it with their other halves than me.
It's just a Day.
There is nothing special about it.
I hate how I was born on that hateful day.
I hate it!
Why couldn't I have been born on another day?
One that wasn't already taken.
One that wasn't a 'holiday'.
I hate my birthday!
Yes, I understand my family loves each other and they deserve a day to show it.
I understand that that is what 'Valentine's Day' is for.
What I don't understand is why I was born on that stupid day.
I hate it!
