There are many reasons why I love poetry

I find the rhythm and sophistication refreshing

And I thoroughly love reading and writing.

But there is one type of poem completely devoid of quality

It is the horrible, repetitive, overall terrible

Nightmare called a sestina.

 

To me, there is nothing worse than a sestina.

Sure, it might be one of the more complex types of poetry,

But I honestly find children’s acrostics less terrible.

At least the simple form of a acrostic is refreshing,

Unlike the awkward repetitiveness that is the sole quality

Of this dismal piece of writing.

 

I understand that witty, creative writing

Can be hard to put in a sestina

Because of the repetitive quality

That is a requirement for this style of poetry.

Because once you have a million cups of refreshing

Lemonade, you will probably find the taste quite terrible.

 

That’s why I believe that sestinas are the most terrible,

Awful, horrible, unsatisfactory, miserable writing.

There is certainly nothing that is refreshing

About a really bad sestina,

AKA the worst kind of poetry.

It's like drinking a million cups of lemonade, and still thinking it's “quality”.

 

Honestly, anyone who would call this poem high-quality

Is not your friend. They have terrible

Taste, probably in most things, especially in poetry,

And most definitely in writing.

I have a unique opinion I am sharing through this sestina,

And I think that this poem is quite refreshing.

 

In fact this poem is so unique and refreshing

Since it points out the low-quality

Piece of garbage that a sestina

Really is. If anything is the most terrible

thing in the world, it is this composition of writing.

It really is a failure of poetry.

And that I have opened your eyes to the terrible style of poetry

That is the not refreshing, quite awful nightmare called a sestina.
