I Have Been Found

These scrapes, I held onto them I burried myself in dept, fears, regrets, and lonliness I let myself waste energy on something I thought I couldn't change Swept away by the tides of ruthlessness There goes my strength again But, I think I found a friend Finally...Finally One day, I just knew it would come true The world I dreamt of at night when my walls were staring back at me So plain, empty, and secretive While the shadows mocked my innocence I hushed their angry voices through wimpered tones and squeezed my eyes shut Imagining a place where I'd belong Never thinking, I'd find it so soon But I'm afraid of it leaving A bite of happiness and I'm addicted I don't want this smile to be taken away The taste of belonging, standing in a circle not outside the lines My heart prepares itself for the final blow For when the ones I hold close, let me fall But it comes to my surprise That the moment I am face to face with my fear I realize, I have friends, family, and myself And all those combined is what makes me strong I have been found
