I have a Dream...s

Since I was young I have had many a dream,

To climb Everest and start a snow-ball fight at the tippity top,

To see the Statue of Liberty holding her torch up with all her power and might,

To no longer have hours upon hours of homework burying me each night,

When I was a little girl I wanted to soar through the sky with all the birds and planes emerging from the white cotton ball clouds,

To be able to jump so high that I could grasp the branches on the top of every Sequoia in the Redwood forest,

To be able to ride every coaster at Magic Mountain without waiting in a single line,

To be able to breathe underwater and hang out with Ariel and Flounder,

I wanted to be the fastest on the field, sprinting past every boy and girl,

To be able to kick a soccer ball like a meteorite past every goalie,

To be able to throw a softball at the speed of light tagging out the runner every time,

But as I got older my dreams changed and so did I...,

They became less carefree and childish as they were before,

Now I dream that one day when I have my own little girl, she is able to...,

Breathe unpolluted air and to know of a polar bear,

I want her to be strong and independent,

I wish for her to challenge others and stretch the limits of her mind without ever getting to far out of line,

I hope she doesn't have to live in fear of extremist groups like I.S.I.S while also never having to be bias,

I want her to be the one person to stand up for the "weird" kid that was left to play on their own,

Finally, I want her to be a leader not a follower and to never be a wallower,

I want my child or children to live happy lives never to worry of these things,

I want them to have big dreams,

In the end I can do without all of the gadgets and gizmos,

If it meant one day saving our world and providing each and every one of our children with dreams similar to the ones I had growing up,

For each of them to be careless and gutsy,

Climbing every tree they can see,

Never to hit the ground until bed time comes around.
