I Have Evaded Death

I have evaded Death, If only for the moment My friend was not so fortunate So for him I lament. Through the blinding pain of Death, I continue to wail and moan No one can seem to hear me Alas I am hitherto alone. Amidst all of the proceedings I cling to my warped mind, My spirit cannot endure these sights And I simply want to be blind. The visions bombard my eyes And it seems they shall never cease, With nothing but eyes I may find respite In this moment I am hit with a caprice. I feel my soul just flit away Growing farther from my reach, I may not even bother to go and get it back Without its heavy burden I need no longer screech.
