I Have a Gun

(Police sirens) (4x) (They're killing us man, they're killing us They're shooting us man, they're shooting us) ................................................................................................ Life is a precious thing to me It determines who you are and what you want to be But if you step in the cross fires you will quickly see Because one wrong step can lead to catastrophe You took the wrong step my guy, you made a mistake Unfortunately it's to late for you to do a retake Its because you didn't have both hands on the wheel He thought you were a thug, so he made you squeel Unarmed and innocent, that's what you were Something that people in the media just can't concur And man you had a family that loved you dearly But now the atmosphere has quickly grown dreary The officer will get off clean and pressed with no charges That'll probably start more riots and add more carnage Your hours became numbered quickly under the Sun Just because the other man could say, "I have a gun." ..................................................................................................... You have that strap clenched in your hands Do you think that makes you a man The power to execute like God I think you're just being a fraud No one knows when their time will end When the angel of death will descend Is it crazy your time ends under the Sun Cause someone can say they have a gun. ............................................................................................... (4x) (They're killing us man, they're killing us They're shooting us man, they're shooting us) ................................................................................................ Now I've inhabitated the mind of a street thug The one where a slight pull of the strings is really a tug I'm looking to make my enemies feel something hot As I patrol these streets with very evil thoughts Or maybe I'm in the mind of someone who shoots up schools I guess I'm trying to erase people from the gene pool Now let's inhabit the heads of the jealous folks The ones who claim that they want all the smoke Who'll kill you just because you're doing very well It could be a stranger or your best friend, you could never tell But if I believe in the phrase and eye for an eye Doesn't that mean that they also have to die Will this sensless violence ever end Will people stop killing themselves and their friends Will the same color of people put their guns down So their families don't have to visit the funeral in town Will police officers instead start using their tasers Instead of using their guns like they're plastic toy lasers Will there be time we can settle our conflicts in another way Where we ended gun violence, is something we could say Can humanity ever be truly safe under the Sun I think not; because I have a gun ........................................................................................................ You have that strap clenched in your hands Do you think that makes you a man The power to execute like God I think you're just being a fraud No one knows when their time will end When the angel of death will descend Is it crazy your time ends under the Sun Cause someone can say they have a gun. .............................................................................................. (2x) (They're killing us man, they're killing us (They're shooting us man, they're shooting us) Oh look here, now I have a gun Now it's my turn to have a little fun Now your days are numbered under the Sun Because with this power in my hand, I now weigh a ton I wonder after I do this, what consequences have I won But who cares, this senseless violence is never done Looky here, now I have a gun So now it's my turn to seek, and your turn to run.
