I Have to Write This Poem for a Scholarship doesn't that show you the kind of person I am?

I need a scholarship.

"Tell me about yourself," they say.

Heck, I don't even know that.

"Be authentic," they say.

Heck, I don't even know that.

"Be under 25," they say.

Heck, I don't eve- well okay, you got me.

How can I know these things?

I'm not a poet- I know that.

Is this even con-

sidered

free verse?

I know the term caesura.

That's about it.

But why do I need to tell you

When I can just

be me.

I am me and I do what I want.

And no one can tell me different.

Is that authentic enough?

'Cuz I really need a scholarship.
