I Hold My Own Hand
I remember when you helped me do everything,
When you held my hand.
I recall the sidewalk always hit me,
And I never fell down.
I remember when the sidewalk disappeared,
And when you were gone.
That one book told me it would end one day,
But I thought you'd be there to see the road end with me.
Instead I jumped,
leaving all behind for somewhere new.
I remember when I took my first step without you,
I was holding my own hand.
