I Hope

Dear Future Me,

I hope that you didn’t waste your life away,

Trying to be someone important someday,

I hope that you didn’t spend the ticking clock,

Trying to talk the talk, without walking the walk,

I hope that you didn’t look back at your day,

Trying to rethink of what you didn’t say,

I hope that you didn’t misuse the precious moments,

Trying to create conflicts with futile opponents,

I hope that you didn’t deplete your memories,

Trying to divulge in a cascade of reveries,  

Instead,

I hope you spent every second,

Counting every single blessing,

I hope you spent every minute,

Working harder to win it,

I hope you spent every hour,

Giving glory to the higher Power,

I hope you spent every day,

Changing the world in an influential way,

I hope you spent every month,

Making each mistake only once,

I hope you spent every year,

Spreading goodness and cheer.

In the end,

It isn’t about being the best, or the the brightest,

Or the coolest, or the highest,

It’s about being simply, and authentically you,

Because as people, that is all we can do.
