I hurt too

Tears streaming down your cheeks,

My own hands wet from wiping away mine.

Eyes sad… heads shaking…

How could we have gotten this so wrong?

Our dreams, our wants, our plans,

We miscalculated

We misunderstood

We misheard

Each Other's wants, each other's needs

We forgot that when we get angry… we’re supposed to count to three.

The tensions built, the burdens grew

And we snapped almost perfectly into two.

So now we regroup, take a step back

We take a look at the last few weeks and agree- we don't want that.

We aren't interested in the struggle and pain

Of constantly throwing each other into the flame

No, no, we promised to love and to cherish

We promised to strive to thrive and to flourish

We knew it was gonna be hard, but no more of this painful competition

We don’t need to compete about who hurt who

About who said what that wasn’t true

We don’t need to argue about what struggle hurts more

I’m sorry

I’m sorry I lost sight of what’s important

I’m sorry I stopped

Stopped trying to see what it was you need

Sorry I got so caught up in my own shit that i didn’t realize

That you- you were right there next to me

Taking the punches, and drowning in all life had to offer

We sank together, but this ain’t over

Cause together… together we will rise

We’re gonna jump over these hurdles and

Together we’ll help change those lies

The lies we told ourselves so late at night feeling nothing but the pain of this life.

Cause I love you too much to let you hurt alone

No, love, I refuse to let you carry this hurt on your own.

Here- let me take a little of yours

You can take some of mine too.

Together, together we can do this

Together we can get through.

Cause yeah this life ain’t easy,

Yeah our hearts are a little dazed and confused

But baby, don’t you know?

I hurt too.

And I love you.

But because I love you I’m here for you

And We’ll work through this together

Till all those wounds become scars

Till we can look back and marvel at how

We made it this far.
