But I Just Sit Here

I listen to my friend’s first single

as it releases on the web.

The melody intoxicating,

the words invigorating,

the occasion that it is

resonates throughout my head.

But I just sit here.

I walk through the art hallway,

and notice multiple works,

and a few masterpieces.

The artists that they are

pouring themselves on that canvas

in a storm of color.

As if to let the whole world know

“I have arrived”

But I just sit here.

On Saturday night I sit in the student section

to watch my classmates

try to takedown

the other team.

The last quarter comes with a tied score.

The clock counts down and we have the ball

the QB throws in a long perfect arch

to the receiver

who catches the ball and runs it in

for the game winning points.

But I just sit here.

I watch as my friends

Make music,

Create masterpieces, and

Win the game.

But I just sit here

professing my mind on sheets of paper.

I cannot write you a novel,

with the spillage of my mind.

But if you want rhythm,

Color,

Joy or even darkness,

than I have what you need.

Just let my thoughts flow,

and maybe, a poem,

you may receive.
