I Knew

One job wouldn’t change my life...it would alter someone else's

To help, to cure, to heal

My antibiotic is chamomile

My life is dedicated to changing the lives of others

So long and goodbye to the bi-yearly visits to an antiseptic doctor

Welcome to the aestheticism of a non clinical environment

My heart and my soul

That is what I poured

Into my endeavor

Long and hard I searched to find

The one career that would enchant me,

Captivate me,

And grasp my heart

Lawyer,

Architect,

And gymnast to

Long and hard I searched

But none would do

Giving up,

Sad and indecisive

Succumbing to the idea of a white collar job

Average...average...average

That’s all I'd ever be

Barely 19 and the thoughts of my future were bleak

And yet...

For years my grandmother suffered numerous ailments, diabetes, lupus, glaucoma, and brain damage, to name a few

Prescription after prescription would turn her for the worst

We could do nothing but sit back and watch her slowly wither away

But my grandmother intend to stay

A leap of faith is all it took

A few months later and our perception was anew

Her glow and ability to remember where she was

Was nothing short of miraculous

The cure to my grandmothers sicknesses was,

An herbalist

Right then and there I knew

That this is the path that I would choose

Because all along I knew

That I wanted to find a job that would not benefit me...but benefit

You
