I Know

I know that I belong,

That I am because I was meant to be.

I know that life's only worth living if purpose

Consumes you,

I know that even though the world dances

On the line of wicked and kind,

People tend to only have one thing on their

Mind.

I know that the world is consumed by greed

Even though there are mouths

Left to feed.

I am aware of the things that need to be done-

Solving world hunger,

Saving our planet,

Creating equality,

Stopping war,

I know that one small change can ripple the

World across,

And even so, I fear one wrong move will

Add upon the tragedies of society.

I don’t belong to anyone or anything.

I have no problem picking up my anchor

And letting myself drift away.

Even though my heart has been torn and I have wall after

Wall around my heart,

It still dances to music,

To a rhythm that only I can feel.

Even though my heart is in need of

Stitches,

I am still capable of love that is

Unknown to me.

I know I am brave.

I know I am bold.

I know I am vulnerable.

I know I am nothing and yet everything

simultaneously.

I am from the waves that glisten

With the rays of sunlight

Dancing among the waves.

I am from sand between my toes.

I am from strength and determination.

I am longing, wanting, needing, pulling,

Always looking for knowledge,

Always thirsting for experience.

Even as the world still turns,

I am frozen,

Stuck in motion,

Stuck in a place where I don’t belong.

I know I am me and I know you are you

And I know that we are more,

More than what the world sees

And so much more than what

We do.

Am I layers?

Am I shades?

Or am I transparent?

Am I invisible or am I seen?

Am I all or am I one?

I know I am apart of the earth just

Like you,

But we must remember

That even though the world doesn’t revolve

Around us two,

And though we breath the same

Air,

We all dance a different dance,

We all sing a different song.
