I know a few girls

I know a few girls who are easily distracted

Flowers, Candy, Cards can have them simply flattered

They fall for too weak I love yous

 Blinded by costumes

They can not see through the mask

That his eyes are not true

Or maybe they just don't want to

I know a few girls who bore their eyes into the mirror

Who Stare at their reflection

But can only see their external damage

"Time to get new clothes and jewlry

I have to do whatever it takes for them to notice me"

I know a few girls who starve themselves

To fit the clothes their little sisters should wear

They let makeup define their beauty

Magazines tell them what's sexy

Designer threads fall above their belly

They feel this gives them the right to be cocky

I know a few girls who offer themslves to boys

Who have not a second thought of them when they're done

They crave attention and popularity

Wish to live their lives as if a fantasy

Which causes them to be so easy

They often turn a blind eye

Since they want to believe he loves me

I know a few girls who don't stress themselves

Wondering if he loves me

All they ever wonder is do I love me?

They don't care what others think about them

They don't need someone else to love them

They are completly capabke of loving themseles

I know girls who know what they deserve

They don't expect perfect

But anyone who doesn't respect

Just won't be worth it

I know myself

I love every inch of me

My soft, coffee colored diamond eyes

The gaps in my teeth

My own sense of style

And the sweet way my lips meet

I know myself

My mind paints stories of bright reds

Leaving me Ready to sing, dance or write out

My experiences stored under my memory bed

I know myself

I wear my natural hair

With no fear

Of my bouncy mother land afro

I know myself

I kick out thoughts

That can cause me

To walk on the street

That's cracked and narrow

I search for enriched oppurtunity

Not self-inflicted sorrow

I know myself

I listen to pop, rap, and jazz too

I refuse to listen to simple, lazy chords

When the song is just right

I'm stuck to it like a tatoo.

I know myself

The artist

who paints stories

The friend

Who hears your troubles and wipes your tears

The sister

Who supports her family taking away fear

The woman who loves

I know myself

I am integrity
