I Know a Man
I know a man that sits home alone all day
No one calls him even though he has a lot to say
No one writes or tries to communicate in any way
The sad thing is - he has a family
He has 2 daughters –
He has 7 grandchildren – including me
The man salvages every dollar he has
He lives in his own Alcatraz
Just so he can have something to offer in the end
And for his children backwards he will bend
How could it have turned out this way
No one calls him even though he has a lot to say
No one cares – and he sits alone day by day
With his wife at his side the family was strong
Daily calls – weekly visits – no one took to long
For it was his wife that held the family connection
For it was his wife that showed the family affection
But what good was that affection
Now that there is no connection
Now does the soul of his wife cry
All she says is why- why- why
You all just wait for him to die
I know a man that sits home alone all day
No one calls him even though he has a lot to say
No one writes or tries to communicate in any way
But one thing I know is I do my part –
With a weary body but with all my heart
Day by day –
And I listen to what he has to say
What goes around comes around – it is true
You reap what you sow – you do this to you
The loneliness – the sadness – the emptiness it’s all there
But he won’t tell you that you are cruel and unfair
Inside he will cry cry cry
Ask himself why do you wait for him to die
Does this have to happen for you pay a visit
Make your condolences and cry at the funeral as you sit
Tears of shame – tears of pity
Or will they be tears of joy for then you get your money
I know a man that sits home alone all day
No one calls him even though he has a lot to say
No one writes or tries to communicate in any way
