I know the secret...
I am shy.
And I only knew hi.
My mind will go blank,
And there will be no thoughts in my mind of a tank,
And fear will be tearing at my stomach and heart rate,
As socializing is not my strength.
Then I met a few people,
Who showed me the way,
I am like a recorder who listens and observes and becomes a seeker,
And then projects to others using what they say.
I thought I was being influenced,
But someone told me a secret one day,
And my mind changed ever since,
And I saw it in a different way,
This is what they had to say;
It’s a game,
A system in a system,
For popularity is something i don’t have to gain,
All I have to do is ask about them,
And then listen,
And that’s how you win the game.
People love talking about themselves,
They’re not insterested in what you have to say,
So don’t talk about yourself,
And talk about them and start out with a hi or a hey!
Go up to them,
To get a head step in the game,
You’re not going to please everyone,
So don’t even try!
Have a topic in mind and just say hi!
And maybe you’ll actually meet the one,
Where it’s not just a conversation at end,
If the person ask a question back about yourself,
You may just have a higher chance of making a friend.
And you may only have one chance in this life of a game,
So take the risk,
You may only live once,
Friendships to gain,
It’s ok if the person is a miss,
There’s no need to cuss.
And the ones that don’t respond back,
Don’t take it personal,
It’s not an attack.
If the person comes up and start to be mean,
Do not get involved with their scheme.
You have the option to ignore them, or you can confuse them,
Compliment them or say you’re having a bad day,
Maybe they begin to just look the other way.
If a topic doesn’t come to mind,
Maybe just say a compliment to just be kind!
Look around your surroundings,
To find any findings.
Maybe at the club,
Talk about the music or about the club.
If you’re at the park,
Talk about the weather or anything at the park you can make a conversation about to get them to talk.
Your dad, your mom, you, me,
We’re all playing this game,
Your dad already has it,
Your stepdad had got into it,
You can do the same,
You’re already playing this game.
We help each other,
We learn from one another,
They learn the words you use,
And you learn the words they use,
There’s techniques you learn from each other,
And even the outgoing ones maybe scared themselves,
I began realizing,
Everyone is too worried about themselves and not anyone else.
I’m still sacred,
To put myself out there,
To socialize,
But I understand and realize,
I’m learning from others and they’re learning from me,
We all have something to gain,
We don’t always have to agree,
This is the secret in the system of the game.
