I Know What It Feels Like
I know what it feels like
To wake up every morning
And wonder who's beneath that beautiful skin.
Am I going to be confidenct, classy and courteous
Or will I be opposed, off-tuned, and an ordeal?
Will I go to school with a smile draped from every inch of my face
Or despise that penetrating sun ray coming through my blinds?
I know what it feels like
To see yourself in the mirror and ask why? why? why?
From this angle, my nose is perfect.
From this angle, my ears are porportioned,
But from this angle, my chest isn't mouth-watering like the women in magazines.
Or maybe when I walk through the halls,
My hair sways like angel wings sent directly from up above.
And today won't be that day because no one knows what it feels like.
But I know what it feels like
To not stack up to my other friends that continuously
Pour glitter, rainbows and everything nice from their hands.
I know what it feels like to have amazing days
At the mall, with friends, or even at a local quick mart.
I know what it feels like to love who I am
But I also know what it feels like to a destructive teenager.
More importantly, do YOU know what it feels like?
Because even with my extreme lows and tremendous highs
I know what it feels like.
