I Lay Awake at Night
I lay awake at night
Shutting my eyes
For a moment before the darkness sets in
Swirling patterns dance around
The inside of my eyelids
While my head feels as though
It is being shaken
The twisting memories
Of every painful moment
Cause my eyes to fly open
Each moment of being pushed down
Let Down
Laid Down
Haunt the inside of my eyelids
Why is it that they have not escaped?
Trapped forever in the darkness
Only brought to light when I dare
Shut my eyes
I lay awake at night
Shutting my eyes
Praying for the memories to leave
