As I Lay Me Down to Sleep

Sweet dreams dear world,

I beg thy forgiveness.

For I must sleep before I tread,

Again in worthiness upon thy mounts.

Before I wake I send thee love,

In hopes that you would take some and send the rest on above.

Goodnight moon I bid thee rest,

For when I wake I'll not see thee in the west.

But the world shall send thee my love,

Continuing its quest up above.

I ask that you should take some and send the rest on above.

My lovely stars I'll see you next evenin',

Until then I expect thee to dance and sing,

And ease me into my now mortal rest,

As you do I send thee my love.

The moon has it now,

When it's done it'll send it on with a flash of a comet.

I ask that you should share it amongst yourselves,

And when your done send the rest on above.

My father thou shalt always have my love,

Forgive me but I can not give it all to you.

In shadows darkness I remain,

But in me rages a fire I can not tame.

It burns, it lifts, it holds, it blazes.

Too much of that blaze is in me,

Too much of that blaze that can not go to one man.

So I sent it to the world first on to the moon and off to the stars.

I hope thou wilt understand,

I know no other way to put it,

But I love all others too.

I know no bounds of love,

For thou hast taught me none.

So when my love reaches you,

I bid thee take some and send the rest on above.
